'Puthukuduirippu West' misunderstanding

SLA sometime ago declared that the 58th division gained control over west of PTK.This was actually not 'west of PTK' .but PTK west which is a large area covering the PTK area. The east of PTK is a small area west of the Nanthikaddal lagoon. This fact is furthur confirmed by the announcement of Army tonight, that the coastal village located inside the newly declared CSZ,Ampalawanpokkanai has been ovverun by the 58th div.Refer to the map in the link given below for further understanding of the ground situation. It is very unfortunate that the map at. Defence.lk is not properly updated for the war observers to get an idea.

Due to these developments we at CeylonDefence can predict the uniting of SL under 1 flag in a few weeks.

{{{"Please tell us how do we protect courts"?
Unruly behavior often accompanied by violence as resorted to by "mobs" has been increasing in recent times not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Patna. What has caused the greatest concern among the highest in the Judiciary is that violence has now reached the hallowed and "sacred" "Halls of Justice" in Tamil Nadu . This concern as has been echoed by a three judge Bench of Justices B.N.Aggrawal, G.S.Singhvi and Aftab Alam in a statement almost amounting to despair. The three judge Bench of Justices stated : " Please tell us how do we protect the courts ? We have instances where some people barge in and raise slogans in courts as it happened in Patna and Madras High Court" ("The Hindu" , 20th February ). Such unruly behavior is usually associated with "goondas" and criminals but not among members of legal profession . It is reported in the media of instances of unruly behavior and violence involving lawyers including Advocates who are accepted as being learned in the law and familiar with court procedures.

According to "The Hindu", Senior Counsel Harish Salve, a former teacher at the National Law School had filed a petition regarding the "boycott" of lawyers stating that "advocates in Tamil Nadu frequently went on strike paralyzing the Madras High Court , its Madurai Bench and District Courts". Lawyers had attended Courts only for nine days during the year 2009. He also noted "the increasing trend of politicization of the Bar and increasing violent tendencies had crept in". He added: "recently advocates hijacked a bus "and taken it to Shastri Bhavan at Nungambakkan to protest against the self immolation of a youth in support of Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka". Another matter of serious concern is that "despite the Apex court judgment declaring the strike by lawyers illegal, there had been frequent strikes in Tamil Nadu ..." .The media reported (20), that yesterday (19) there was "unprecedented violence on the Madras High Court premises " when protesting advocates "fought pitched battles with police personnel for several hours". The "Hindustan Times" (20) reported that "Lawyers sympathetic to the Tamil Tigers had earlier "hurled rotten eggs at Swamy inside the Madras High Court in the presence of the judges and shouted anti- India slogans" and pelted stones at the police for "over two hours" . Justice Arumuga Perumal Aditiyan had suffered a head injury . Reports indicate that the lawyers oppose Dr. Swamy for his anti- LTTE stance and observers said the events hade been sparked off after Dr Subramaniam Swamy was assaulted the previous day inside Madras High Court. This trend to use violence by lawyers if not stopped now, could be dangerous.

The Courts of Law guarantee impartiality for citizen seeking justice in the redress of grievances. If as alleged, Lawyers including advocates resorted to unruly behavior and violence within the "Halls of Justice" in the presence of Judges only demonstrates an unacceptable level of discipline which prevails in the State. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K.Karunanidhi stated : " Unprecedented violence has taken place" in the Courts . Political analysts and security officials have expressed concern regarding the increasing violence prevailing in Tamil Nadu. They noted that the Lawyers should have been aware that the LTTE has been banned as a terrorist organization since May 1992 consequent to the killing of the former Indian prime minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi on 21st May 1991 in the Siriperumbudur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu . The ban has since been extended every two years.
